Witch’s Rock, also known as Roca Bruja, is one of the most legendary surf destinations in Costa Rica and a world-famous icon in the surfing community. Located inside Santa Rosa National Park, directly in front of Playa Naranjo, Witch’s Rock is known for its powerful and consistent waves, breathtaking volcanic rock formation, tropical dry forest, and untouched natural beauty. This world-class surf break offers both left and right-hand waves over a sandy bottom and is best suited for intermediate and advanced surfers. Surfers from all over the world travel to Guanacaste to experience the incredible conditions that make Witch’s Rock one of the top surf spots in Central America. The area is also home to important wildlife habitats, including nesting grounds for olive ridley sea turtles at Playa Naranjo and nearby Playa Nancite. We provide boat tours to Witch’s Rock during Costa Rica’s winter season, from May through November, when the Pacific Ocean experiences lighter winds and smoother conditions. During these months, the approximately one-hour boat ride from Playas del Coco becomes much more comfortable and enjoyable for our guests, allowing surfers to fully appreciate the beauty of the Guanacaste coastline on the way to this iconic destination.
